OVERVIEW
Communication Server 1000 (formerly Succession 1000) Release 4.0 is enterprise call server software that supports centralized or distributed collaborative enterprise environments with distributed call server and gateway redundancy, IP telephony scalability up to 15,000 IP clients per call server, SIP-based inter-working with Nortel's MCS 5100 portfolio and support for an extended range of communication clients. Release 4.0 is common across Communication Server 1000 and Meridian 1 systems, providing a seamless migration path for Meridian 1 upgrades.

KEY FEATURES

  • Release 4.0 introduces Communication Server 1000E, a new highly scalable, fully redundant configuration of the Communication Server 1000 portfolio that offers increased call processing power with a Pentium-based CPP processor, capable of supporting up to 15,000 IP clients per call server.
     

  • Call server geographic redundancy and mirroring allows redundant call servers to be physically distributed up to 8 miles across a campus environment to ensure fault tolerance and disaster recovery.

  • SIP IP interoperability enhances integration between system platforms and applications including Nortel's Multimedia Communications Portfolio as well as 3rd party gateways, terminals, and services for improved access to productivity enhancing capabilities.
     

  • Extended Media Gateway supports Survivable Remote Gateway, Branch Office, 3rd Party with SIP and H.323.
     

  • Extensive client portfolio meets diverse end-user requirements including next generation IP phones, software phones, Mobile clients, 802.11 WLAN VoIP phones, Key Expansion Module as well as digital and analog phones.
